The stylist has been the creative director of Cristina Pedroche’s New Year’s Eve dresses for 10 years.
It is expected to become bigger, more impressive and continue to perform well in the future. Cristina Pedroche and Josie, who has been the creative director of the presenter’s big night for 10 years, designed the dress to ring this year’s New Year’s Eve.
For this day, the two had to change location, leaving the traditional balcony of Madrid’s Puerta del Sol and wearing a large dress that was attended by hat brand VIVASCARRION and Belén Mozas, creator of the jewelry brand Morrir de amor. The latter was responsible for turning the drops of breast milk that Pedroche had stored while breastfeeding into more than 8,000 crystals. The presenter and Josie wanted to send a message about child protection in collaboration with UNICEF, with whom they are working this year.
The day before New Year’s Eve, Josie explained how she created this year’s look and how she deals with the criticism after 10 years. After UNHCR and Greenpeace, this year you worked with UNICEF. How did this collaboration come about? UNHCR and Greenpeace are two friendly platforms that can use the great resonance of the chimes to spread the message, reach people and inspire them to think and dream about better prospects for all. The great media attention that the event has generated will not only help to expose Spanish talent in art and fashion, but also to spread a powerful message to change the world and raise awareness. Given our positive experience, we took the plunge and proposed to UNICEF Spain that we jointly spread the message through the symbolism of a glass filled with breast milk that adorns the entire dress. Putting children at the center of a moment like the 2025 New Year’s Eve celebration with UNICEF Spain is an opportunity to raise awareness of those who watch this moment about the importance of protecting children from any kind of violence, abuse and exploitation. All this is expressed through the symbolism of Christina’s breast milk, trapped in each crystal that makes up this chandelier dress, which explodes thanks to more than 40 nipples that spit crystal transparent breast milk. Light, positive, fantasy, quality and a fine hat to complete the suit.
Is it important for you to useyour platform and your audience to make certain causesvisible? For me it is very important to bring an aesthetic renewal,
a team spirit and a message… We want to bring the best to Chimes every year, but above all we want to take advantage of the great media attention that the event gives to educate the public and promote the many designers, artists, artisans, photographers, jewelers and all kinds of other collaborators. We are honored to work together at Chimes, and as fashion and lifestyle journalists and information providers, it is very important that we do not miss this opportunity, which was important for many of the people who crossed Puerta del Sol with us over the last decade.
